To say Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) was having a rocky start in 2019 would be an understatement. To date, the stock has tumbled 43% this year slashing $4.9 billion from the value of Elon Musk’s stake the company. Wall Street is seemingly doubtful about consumer demand for the company’s electric vehicles. This drop in value represents a total loss of $7.8 billion from the stakes of Tesla’s four biggest shareholders – Musk, Tencent Holdings Ltd., Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and Larry Ellison, with $2.7billion dropping off in May alone. Not contributing to the stock is Tesla’s delay in Model 3 deliveries as well as recurring news of autopilot crashed.
Dressing your children in cute outfits is one of life’s simple pleasures as a parent. And with today’s massive online marketplace, finding cute outfits or fun t-shirts is easier than ever. However, one Benton, Illinois mother was shocked at what was printed on the shirt she ordered for her 3 year old. Kelsey Dawn Williamson had ordered a cute little baby shirt that was suppose to have two frogs riding a bicycle on the front of the shirt. When the shirt arrived, the graphic she ordered was printed on the shirt, but just below the frogs were the words “F*** THE POLICE”. The mother has stated that while the shirt certainly doesn’t represent her daughter’s views of the police, she has found the entire situation amusing. The order was placed using AliExpress, and Williamson has used the service before and never had an issue with previous orders.
Burlington Vermont Green Mountain Transit is under fire after one mother has claimed that the driver of the bus told 17 students of color to get off on their way home from school. Since the accusation, The Green Mountain Transit has launched an investigation. Rebecca Mark, the mother of two of the students who were told to exit Bus 914 told NBC5, “These children just experienced something that was scary, sad, and confusing and unjust.” She believes that the Bus driver targeted these students based on the color of their skin. The youngest of the children involved was only 5 years old and according to Mack the 17 students that were removed from the bus were singing along to a song and clapping their hands on the ride home prior to being told to exit. Green Mountain Transit has placed the driver on a different route while the incident is being investigated.
NHTSA To Investigate If GM Recall Over 1.4 Million Vehicles To Fix Dangerous Seat Belts Was Effective
General Motors recalled over 1.4 million of its vehicles which included the Chevrolet Traverse, Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook SUVs with model years of 2009 to 2014 over a seatbelt issue. The flexible steel cable connecting the front seat bels of the vehicle could separate which would result in the potential to not restrain the passenger in the event of a crash. GM dealers were to inspect cables and replace as necessary if the vehicle was determined to have the defective part. However, one of the complaints that came from a man in Dayton, Ohio had said that the seat belt had snapped when his wife was fastening it, even though it had been recalled in 2014. Chevrolets response to the issue was that it was “normal wear and tear.” NHTSA has said that it will now assess the effectiveness of the recall and evaluate the durability of the cables that were supposedly replaced.
Volvo Issues Recall On Some S60 Sedans For The 2019 Year Model That Were Assembled At Berkeley Co. Plant
Volvo has announced today that some of its 2019 S60 Sedans could be impacted by the recall. The vehicles included were manufactured at the Berkely Co Plant between September 2018 and April 1 2019. The reason for the recall is the rear suspension toe link flange lock nuts may have not been tightened enough which could result in sudden change in how the vehicle handles when in motion. The official recall campaign is slated to begin June 21 with Volvo beginning to reach out to Volvo owners. Owners of cars affected will be able to have the issue fixed, free of charge at their local dealership. For questions, owners can reach Volvo Customer Service at 800-458-1552, with a recall notice number of R19938.

A Hungarian tourist both with South Korean tourists on board has sank after colliding with a luxury passenger boat on the Danube in Budapest. There were 33 tourists on board and two Hungarian crew members and to date, 7 South Koreans are confirmed dead with 21 missing. Pal Gyorfi, a spokesman for the Hungarian national ambulance service, told the M1 state broadcaster, “I wouldn’t say there is no hope, rather that there is a minimal chance (of finding survivors).” The smaller boat carrying the South Korean tourists collided with the larger, luxury river cruise boat, the Viking Sigyn and immediately turned onto its side and sank within seconds, which took place under a bridge right near the Hungarian Parliament.

Dollar Tree executives after much deliberation have decided to sell items in the store priced higher than the standard $1 price point. For awhile, Dollar Tree was the only “dollar store” selling items for just $1, where other retailers like Dollar General and Family Dollar have many items priced above $1. After testing prices earlier this year, the company has decided to expand the rollout from one store to a second test phase including 100 stores. The new initiative is known as Dollar Tree Plus, where the ‘everything’s a dollar model’ remains, but additional items will be added to the store at prices higher than $1. Many of the items will be priced at an average of $1.25 with plans to reach a $2.25 average in five years. While some shoppers may pick up one less item as they go for more expensive merchandise, the company seems to think they will see operating profits jump.
