On Friday FedEX announced that it will not renew its U.S shipping contract with Amazon. Amazon is rapidly developing its own in-house delivery network to meet the growing need of timely deliveries as purchases roll in from Amazon Prime Members. FedEx said in a statement that it was a “strategic decision” and that it does not affect another other existing contracts with Amazon including international shipping or orders that are still being processed for fulfillment. The contract that FedEx is not renewing is specific to their air services, which means FedEx will continue to provide last mile delivery service for Amazon. Amazon is ramping up its own delivery network to handle more orders with faster delivery times. This includes purchasing cargo planes and trucks as well as launching programs to streamline deliveries to customers.
Burger King is having to retrain workers at a Florida franchise after a video surfaced of an employee mopping table tops with the same mop that was just used to clean the floors. Katie Duran, who had just finished eating at the exact same table, recorded the incident as she was leaving. An apology came from the fast food chain that condemned the employee’s actions, calling them “unacceptable”. The same Burger King in Fruit Cove was cited for eight violations previously this year which include moldy kitchen vents, dirty food freezers and people working without hair nets.
Tyson Foods, Inc., has recalled more than 190,000 pounds of Tyson Fully Cooked, Whole Grain Golden Crispy Chicken Chunk Fritters. This particular product is not sold in retail grocery stores, however, but is distributed nationwide to food-service customers, including schools. The chicken ay be contained with hard plastic the company said in a statement. Three complaints were sent to Tyson Foods from schools about foreign material in the Food Product according to the US Department of Agriculture, however, at the time of publication, there have been no reports of injury or illness linked to eating the contaminated fritters. The chicken fritters were not part of the National School Lunch Program and were purchased independently by individual schools.

Honda announced last month that 1,082 Clarity Fuel Cell vehicles were being recalled due to a defective cooling system part. The models affected were all produced between 2017 and 2018 and were all sold in California. The recall issue is specific to an electric water pump that wasn’t properly treated for corrosion. What happens over time that if the component becomes corroded it would potentially result in a low-pressure warning for the system. When this happens, the vehicle may be able to be driven for a short distance on reduced power but then the vehicle would shut down. Consumers who have purchased ground beef or ribeye at Kroger Grocery Stores in Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky need to check their refrigerators and freezers after a recall was announced over E Coli concerns. The recall affects bone-in ribeye steaks, boneless ribeye steaks and ground beef that was sold between April 23, 2019 and June 3, 2019. Affected stores are in Southeastern Indiana, Daytona and Greater Cincinnati Ohio as well as Northern Kentucky. At the time of publication, there have been no confirmed reports of illness associated with the products, however, Kroger has stated that eating the contaminated beef could result in severe illness. Customers who purchased the beef should dispose of it immediately or return it to the store of purchase for a full refund or replacement.
More reports are coming out about tourists dying in the Dominican Republic. A fourth US tourist died in April after drinking a mini bar drink at an all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana. This death happened about 1 month before the other three US tourists died in their rooms. Robert Bell Wallace, aged 67, of California immediately fell ill after drinking a scotch from his in-room minibar at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Punta Cana. Wallace’s niece, Chloe Arnold told Fox News that Wallace was visiting the Dominican Republic for his stepson’s wedding. Arnold also said that her uncle was an avid traveler and has been in good health prior to traveling to the DR and had recently completed a skiing trip in Lake Tahoe. The U.S State Department released a statement, responding to questions about Wallace’s death. “We can confirm the death of a U.S. citizen in April 2019 in the Dominican Republic. We offer our sincerest condolences to the family for their loss. Out of respect for the family during this difficult time, we do not have additional information to provide.” This is the 4th mysterious death in the Dominican Republic that has been confirmed.
