An 8 year old boy quickly found himself drifting out to see on an inflatable unicorn when rescuers arrived to save the day. The 8 year old was visiting Oak Island North Carolina from Ohio when all of a sudden he was nearly 1/2 mile out to sea and his parents realized they couldn’t get to him. Oak Island Water Rescue Chief Tony Young told WWAY TV that “the float was right there, in easy reach, and then just in the blink of an eye, it was beyond the breakers and too far for them to reach.” The parents immediately called 911 when they realized they couldn’t rescue their son and they told him to stay on the float. The Oak Island Water Rescue Team is a volunteer group and they do it because they care. “Handing that little kid back to his mom after we brought him in from way out in the ocean on that float was payment enough for all of us. “I’m sure I speak for the whole team when it comes to that.” Young told WWAY TV
BMW is having to recall more than 5,000 compact cars that have knee airbag models for both the driver and passenger. The recall is affecting the following models: – 2019-2020 2 Series: 230i and 230i xDrive coupe and convertible, M240i and M240i coupe and convertible, M2 Competition. – 2019 3 Series: 330i xDrive Sportswagon. – 2019-2020 4 Series: 430i and 430i xDrive coupe and convertible, 440i and 440i xDrive coupe and convertible, M4 coupe and convertible – 2020 4 Series Grand Coupe: 430i and 430i xDrive, 440i and 440i xDrive The modules which were supplied by Joyson Safety Systems may have airbags that were not properly folded in the airbag housing resulting in the airbags becoming damaged during inflation which can then lead to preventing the full safety benefit of the airbag itself during deployment. The fix is pretty easy with dealership technicians having to replace one or both knee airbag models with correctly folded parts. Owners of models affected should receive mail notifications by mid July.

Davey Johnson took a motorcycle for a test drive last week in the Sierra Nevadas and has been missing since. Northern California authorities are searching for the Sacramento automotive writer who has not been seen since his test drive. Authorities found the black Honda CB100R along with his helmet and gloves shortly after midnight at a rest stop on Saturday but no sign of Johnson himself. The last communication anyone has had with Davey Johnson was his girlfriend who heard from him around 2 AM on Wednesday. Jaclyn Trop, his girlfriend said, “I just really hope he’s alive, because thinking about the alternative yesterday was … I don’t even have words for it. I was completely gutted, and I would still feel that way if they hadn’t found the bike.” The search continued onto Mammoth in California then on to Sonora Pass and the search is still ongoing.
Jaguar Land Rover, owned by Tata Motors (NYSE: TTM) is having to recall some of its electric I-Pace vehicles due to problems involving the regenerative braking system. The I-Pace which starts at $69,850 has a regenerative braking system that helps recharge the car’s electric battery when the driver presses the brake peddle to come to a stop. The issue, which could be a failing electrical regenerative braking system could result in an increased delay in declaration after pressing the brakes, which could ultimately lead to the driver failing to stop in time. Jaguar will begin notifying I-Pace owners that are affected on July 1 and the fix will involve a software update to reduce the braking delay. The recall covers vehicles produced in the 2019 and 2020 model years which totals to 3,083 vehicles.

The all new Audi (OTCMKTS: AUDVF) Electric vehicle that has a starting price of $74,900USD and was set to take on the Tesla SUV is being recalled over fire risks. The E-Tron is new for 2019 and 1,644 vehicles are being recalled due to a bad seal that can let moisture into the battery compartment and potentially cause a short which could start a fire. At the time of publication, there were no real-world reports of incidents where a fire occurred or accidents that happened as a result of the bad seal. Protecting the property value of your home, cars, and personal items is just part of the equation in pricing insurance. Other items such as past claims, credit score or your driving record can influence the price or even a declination. It’s understandable to most why you need to check out your driving record for traffic tickets and DUIs. The ACLU is not going to come to your defense because your driving record was reviewed. Traffic ticket history generally lasts five years, so eventually your tickets and accidents begin to fall off with good behavior. In many states a basic traffic infraction can be taken care of by taking an online course and paying the ticket, but that doesn’t erase it from your record. If you feel you need to expunge your record, you’ll need to take the time to go to court and elect the traffic course as your civic option and your record will be clean. After all, if you have a lead foot or you’re constantly driving while intoxicated, your risk to the insurance company is significant. But most people are surprised to learn that insurance companies are looking at your creditworthiness. It’s not a hard credit check, Read more…
California will likely become the first state to provide healthcare to some illegal immigrants. Those eligible for Medi-Cal, which is the states Medicaid program, must be between the ages of 19 and 25 be considered low-income adults living in the country illegally. Anthony Wright, the executive director of the advocacy group Health Access, stated that further expansion of this program could come in the future. The full legislature must still be approved and lawmakers have until Saturday to approve the budget or face losing their pay. To fund a portion of this program, the state will begin taxing people who don’t have health insurance, which is similar to what President Barack Obama’s health care law did that was eliminated in 2017 with the overhaul to the tax code. Republicans on the legislative committee have voted against the proposal stating that it is unfair to give health benefits to those who are in the country illegally while taxing people who are legal residents of the state who have not purchased coverage.
